About the artist
I’m Leah - a veteran, artist and full-time designer turned ceramic artist.
After years working in design, I was drawn to expand into something hands-on, slower and more grounded. Making pottery on the wheel became that outlet and The Clay Pelican was born.
My work blends a design-focused foundation with the natural imperfections of handmade processes. Every piece is shaped individually, with intention but without striving for perfection.
I create one-of-a-kind pieces influenced by coastal living and made to be used, held, and lived with. I hope these humble clay creations bring a bit of joy to your day, just as they do to mine while I’m making them.
Shaped by the shoreline
Most of the pieces I make start with something I’ve seen near the water. A color, a texture, a sound. From Sea glass to driftwood, shells in the sand, waves hitting the shore, and sunsets over the Gulf.
That’s the feeling I’m chasing every time I sit down at the wheel to take a simple clump of clay and transform it into something you want to hold, use, and live with.
